an enlightened opportunity…

erin of enlighten events approached us with the idea of shooting a totally unique handmade concept dress covered with beautiful fresh mokara orchids, chile roses & circus roses. it was truly one of a kind! we immediately knew the make-up would have to be done by the fabulous renee of two fishes artistry. ashley with pure & couture in destin did a phenomenal job with the hair adding to the essence of the shoot. as soon as we arrived on location in watercolor the heavens opened up and downpoured for a good hour. so we lost some light, big deal. i was still very happy with what daylight we had left. the rain created a fresh/lush feel to the images which further enhanced the look of what i had envisioned. since we weren’t quite ready to hang the dress up and the sun had set, it was time to bring out some dramatic off-camera lighting. this is something that i take great pleasure in using to produce emotion through light.  we are already talking about our next concept dress. erin, it was a pleasure working with you and i look forward to again in the future. ~ryan

brooke & keith planned a gorgeous wedding at carillon beach. nature threw a little wrench in their plans so instead of a beach ceremony, they were wed in the beautiful meeting house. to make up for it, God gave them one of the most beautiful sunsets we’ve ever seen and *WOW* was it amazing! brooke, keith, and the rest of their friends and family didn’t let the rain get them down and dined and danced the night away. thanks to brooke & keith for choosing us to photograph their unforgettable day. thank you, as always, to all of the wonderful talent listed below who helped make this wedding so beautiful.

a 90210/32550 engagement

when our friends, brian & tara, hired us to photograph their october wedding we were super honored and excited. when brian offered to fly ryan out to LA and put him up while he shot their engagement session, we were even more excited! any chance to get to a new place is fun for us, and beautiful california proved no different. we spent 5 days between orange county and LA, and brian (being from CA) had tons of fun stuff planned for us to do (and eat)! it was also a treat that another couple that are also previous clients and friends (remember the beautiful wedding of Christen & Graeme?) came along on the trip. right after our plane landed we hopped on the freeway and were off to a dodger’s game. the dodger’s won! the next several days were filled with eating yogurt, shopping, sight-seeing, eating yogurt, checking out tattoo shops (high voltage included), eating yogurt, beach-bathing, mechanic bull-riding at the saddle ranch, celebrity spying (the only 2 we saw were dennis rodman and jalen rose), advancing our muffin-tops at in-and-out burgerdel tacorubioskean coffe, having brunch at the most amazing place on earth (plums)… oh and did i mention eating yogurt? brian is an amazing dj (him and christen own the fantastic b-boy productions), and ryan had fun tagging along with him to an elegant california wedding at the saint regis hotel. we were also able to attend a service at brian’s former church, the crossing which was awesome! reminded us a lot of our own amazing church, shoreline. brian saved the last day for the engagement session, and we had a blast visiting a few different spots including the top of the standard hotel. it was a bummer to finally come home, but we were missing our kids (a little). we can’t wait to go back in jan! thanks to brian & tara for giving us one of the best weeks of our life!!

p.s. if you are thinking some of those look like NW FL you would be correct. we had a little wardrobe malfunction in CA (as in brian forgot to bring anything that matched tara) so we decided to re-shoot some here in sunny FL. ;)

brooke & keith’s carrillon wedding sneak peek

there will be more to come …………..

jennifer & jake’s hot and steamy carillon beach wedding. . .

if there is any way to prove staying power in a couple, let planning a wedding during the hottest part of the summer be the way. . .july 17th to be exact.  we thought we were going to get lucky with some clouds and then the clouds turned into a short late afternoon shower.  which you’d think would lead a bride to intense panic.  however, not the case with jennifer.  she was nothing but happy to simply be marrying jake.  everyone that was attending the wedding was an absolute blast!  from the beginning of the reception to the very end the dance floor remained full of energy and some interesting moves i’ve never seen before!  we had such a fun time with everybody there and can’t wait for jennifer and jake to come back to fl!
